I CREATE ART. THEREFORE, I AM.

Descartes was indeed onto something. Throughout my creative life as an artist, I’ve enjoyed numerous opportunities to segue into one career or another that would put my artistic sensibilities to good use—teaching, movie advertising, gay rights activism and fundraising, and lecturing. I found great satisfaction in each, especially as a teacher, in that immensely gratifying moment when an eager student first “gets it” and veers off onto their creative path. 

However, my greatest fulfillment will always be standing in front of a canvas with a pencil or brush in hand, for creating art nourishes my soul and helps me bring order to a hopelessly chaotic world.
